Long Course State - Day 1 Results

Day 1 results are in from Long Course State in Grand Junction and CMA swimmers are off to a great start.  Here are some of the highlights:

Maggie Tibbitt: Got her third zone qualifying time today in the 50 freestyle.  This automatically puts her on the Zone team and she will compete in at the Age Group Western Zone meet in San Jose, CA next week! 

Maggie swam three events today and went personal best times in all three. 

200 IM: Previous best-3:11.71, Time today-3:07.13 (12^th place)

50 Free: Previous best-34.11, Time today-32.77 (5^th place – our highest finish of the day)

100 Fly: Previous best: 1:33.29, Time today-1:28.18 (8^th place)

Daniel Carr: Swam three events today (100 Fly, 200 IM, 200 back) and went a personal best time in all three.  He finished 6^th in the 100 fly and 200 IM and 7^th in the 200 back.  In the 100 Fly he was one of only two 11 year-olds in the 11-12 age group final.  In the 200 IM he was the only 11 year-old in finals!
100 Fly: Previous Best-1:17.04, Time today-1:15.64

200 IM: Previous Best- 2:45.66, Time today-2:44.45

200 Back: Previous Best-2:50.17, Time today-2:46.54

Grant Knorr: Swam three events today (200 Free, 100 Fly, 800 Free) and went a personal best time in each.  The 200 Free was the swim of the day.  He entered the meet with a 2:19.29, and swam a 2:15.33 in prelims to sneak into the B final heat at 15^th place (top 16 make it back).  Tonight in finals he improved his time another four seconds to finish with a 2:11.18 – winning the B final heat.  His time would have finished 5^th in the A final heat.

200 IM: Previous Best-2:19.29, Time today-2:11.18

100 Fly: Previous Best-1:11.14, Time today-1:10.54

800 Free: Previous Best-10:37.51, Time today-10:26.78

Maggie York: Dropped time in her 50 in prelims and then again in finals – placing 13^th!  She was the highest placing 11 year-old in the 11-12 age group!

50 Free: Previous Best-32.19, Time today-31.14

Elizabeth Brewer: Handled her first state championship meet like a veteran.  She swam two personal best times in her two events and finished 12^th in the state in the 200 backstroke.

200 Back: Previous Best-2:59.75, Time today-2:50.26

400 Free: Previous Best: 5:30.19, Time today-4:27.81

Emily Bauer: Swam two personal best times today and continues to gain a lot of experience swimming at this level.

400 IM: Previous Best-6:02.46, Time today-5:48.05

200 Free: Previous Best-2:25.80, Time today-2:24.01

Morgan Wice-Roslin: We have been more impressed with her improvement throughout the season than virtually any other swimmer on CMA.  While she just missed her personal best time in her two swims today, we are so pleased to see her at this meet swimming so many events!  We look forward to her swims again on Sunday!

Congratulations also to Maren York and the CMA 12 & Under relay that improved it’s time by 4 seconds!
