The bad news at Day
2 of the Long Course State meet is that CMA didn’t have as
many swims. The good
news is that the swims we did have were even better! Here are a few of the
highlights:
Daniel Carr: In his only
swim of the day – Daniel was the only 11 year-old to make
finals in the 11-12 100 back (only one other 11 year-old made the
top 16!). Also, in
typical Daniel fashion – he found a way to swim faster at
finals than he did in prelims:
100 back: Previous
best-1:17.94, Time today-1:16.33
Maggie Tibbitt: She
continues to take her swimming to another level. Today she just missed the Zone
Priority qualifying time standard in the 200 Free, but did get the
non-priority zone time in that event which makes four. You only need three non-priority
zone times to automatically make the zone team (or one priority
time), so she is having a great meet. Her third place finish in the 200
free today is our highest finish of the meet!
200 Free: Previous
best: 2:41.69, Time today-2:37.18
100 Back: Previous
best: 1:23.94, Time today-1:22.95
Matt DePeppe: After
improving his time in the 200 Breaststroke by 22.93 seconds this
season, Matt was just on his best time today. Not only was he nearly 10 seconds
under the state qualifying time, but he was also five 11 year-olds
to finish in the top 16 in that event!
Grant Knorr: Continues to
have a fantastic meet, swimming in two more events and going two
more personal best times.
400 Free: Previous
best- 5:00.29, Time today-4:47.87
100 Free: Previous
best-1:03.12, Time today-1:01.31
Emily Bauer: Swam her
favorite event today and had her best performance of the meet so
far. She finished
13th and
only three other 13 year-olds finished higher in the 13-14 age
group!
100 Back: Previous
best-1:15.77, Time today-1:12.20
Elizabeth Brewer: Prior
to the start of this season Elizabeth’s best time in the 200
free was a 2:58.83.
Coming into Long Course State this year she had already improved
her best time by 22.70 seconds! Today she improved by nearly
another 3 seconds.
200 Free: Previous
best-2:36.16, Time today-2:33.60
100 Back: Previous
best-1:22.49, Time today-1:21.54
Congratulations CMA
